Ready Craft keeps boats in ship shape

LAKE OCONEE — Jack Morris has always loved boats. He grew up on Lake Sinclair and learned a deep love of boat maintenance from his father. Morris went on to earn a degree in Marine Engine Technology at Central Georgia Technical College in Milledgeville and also went to Lanier Technical College in Gainesville, receiving a degree in Motorsports Vehicle Technology. Full of expertise on both land vehicles and watercraft, he returned to his native middle Georgia and began his business, Ready Craft, earlier this year to already rave reviews.
“Ready Craft is pretty unique. I go to people’s homes and focus on year-round maintenance. I keep the boats cleaned and maintained, which adds up to big savings for my customers,” Morris said. “Preventative care is so key when it comes to boats.”
Morris comes to the customer, and works around the customer’s schedule. Owning a boat is an investment, and Morris wants to continue to keep his customer’s investment looking and acting as ship-shape as the day they purchased their boat.
“My service includes year-round maintenance, winterizing and preparing boats for summertime as well as repairing boats. But I am very focused on preventive care. My service can save my customers lots of money in the future, and the boat is always ready for the lake when you are. My customers can call me and let me know that they are coming to their lake house, and I will ensure that their boat is cleaned and ready for lake action,” Morris said.
Because Morris is a mobile unit, his hours of operation can be completely flexible. He specializes in jet skis, and pleasure cruisers, but can manage any type of watercraft as well. Ready Craft is a maintenance business, just like landscaper and pool maintenance. For boat owners, preventative measures ensure that the boat will continue to be a source of pleasure, and not a headache.
“The best thing you can do is use your boat,” Morris said. “When people don’t get a chance to use their boat, over time and seasons, things can become damaged. My services are great because I can take care of all of the maintenance and cleaning for the customer, as well as any type of repair work. If the boat needs more work, I can always take it to a shop for my customer so that they do not have to.”
Morris schedules consultations at the customer’s convenience, and quotes are given based upon the type of boat and maintenance request. For year round service, Ready Craft is also available to do contracts, however service is not solely based on a contractual basis.
“I’ve always enjoyed boats and being out on the lake. Owning my own boat maintenance business just seemed like the natural next thing. I’m focused here in the Lake Country, but I’d love to take Ready Craft regionally and statewide someday. I keep the boats a step ahead of the potential damage, and that is a great thing for customers,” Morris said.
